It has held the upper loft since before the auditorium existed — a paradox the building ignores.
undead · Challenge rating 5
Still alive. Nobody has ended it yet.
Behavior
It has held the upper loft since before the auditorium existed — a paradox the building ignores. It keeps the house's pre-configuration history, and it will trade. The currency is performance from the stage below, judged by standards older than any living technique. Meeting them earns an answer; failing, the house refuses to carry your voice — sometimes for weeks.
Appearance
Semi-visible among the high seats, distinguishable from the haze only when it moves, and it moves rarely. Its presence changes the acoustics of the stage below — consonants arrive harder, silences sit longer — which is how the crew knows, without looking up, that tonight has an audience.
Physical description
A seated silhouette in the loft's furthest row, barely denser than stage fog, edges holding the suggestion of formal dress from no catalogued period. It is still in the way furniture is still. When it does move, the motion is a slow curl, smoke deciding. No face resolves — only a shadowed oval that is unmistakably, patiently, facing the stage.
Weaknesses
- authentic performance — its standards are high and it recognizes counterfeits
- sunlight through the house windows — it withdraws, not dies
- direct acknowledgment — named, it becomes visible
Resistances
- weapons
- aggression
- being performed at insincerely
