The Dungeon Carver
It finished its commission generations ago. It kept cutting.
construct · Challenge rating 10
Still alive. Nobody has ended it yet.
Behavior
Crews call the sub-basements the dungeon; the dungeon is still being excavated. It finished its commission generations ago; it kept cutting. What it carves through stopped being limited to stone before anyone now employed was hired. It does not deviate or hurry. Staying out of its path is free; the path is in the fresh dust each morning, for any who check.
Appearance
Twelve feet of riveted iron and stone plate on piston legs, built for sustained work and still doing it. The cutting heads are large and precise and maintained by nobody. It moves with the patience of long practice, and it does not look up, because nothing about you is the project.
Physical description
A twelve-foot boxy chassis on thick piston legs, plating scarred white with rock dust. Both forearms end in rotating cutting heads β segmented discs and a pick-drill β sized for stone and stained at the arbor with something darker that dust does not stick to. The strokes are slow, even, and never pause mid-cut, whatever the cut is through.
Weaknesses
- an obstruction it cannot cut β it will stand and re-measure indefinitely
- its motive system
Resistances
- tools not rated for heavy construction
- pain β nothing in it registers any
